52 Assistants

I discovered Ricky Jay several years ago when I became interested in magic. Ricky Jay is an interesting fellow and the subject of two documentaries, both well worth a view. 52 Assistants, one of Ricky Jays solo shows is amazing -one of my favourites.

Obviously his magic is astonishing but what I love about the piece is his precision and performance style. Jay and his director, David Mamet have clearly thought out so many aspects of the performance that if you were to remove the magic it would still be a great performance.

A live show that is still enjoyable even viewed on YouTube, I wish I saw the live version.
